Welcome to another wonderful year filled with music, creativity, and fun!
PreK3, PreK4 & Kindergarten
Our youngest musicians will explore the fundamentals of music in a fun, engaging, and hands-on way! Through singing, movement, listening, instruments, and musical games, we’ll begin building a lifelong love and understanding of music.
Grades 1–3
Students will continue building their musical foundation while exploring rhythm, melody, dynamics, notation and a variety of musical concepts through interactive activities and creative experiences. Students will also be introduced to the musical instrument families, discovering what makes each family unique and special!
Grade 4
Fourth graders will begin learning the recorder! Recorders will be assigned to students during the first week of October as we begin learning to read, play, and perform music together.
Grade 5
Fifth graders will take a closer look at one of my favorite classroom instruments—the piano! Students will get to explore the keyboard and develop a greater understanding of how to read music. They will also take an in-depth look at the musical instrument families, exploring their unique characteristics, sounds, and the instruments that belong to each.
Grade 6
Sixth graders will dive into the exciting world of musical genres, exploring the sounds, characteristics, artists, and influences that have helped shape the music we know and love.
Grades 7 & 8
Our oldest students will explore careers and opportunities within the music industry while also getting creative with music technology, including opportunities to explore music creation using BandLab for Education.
These are just a few of the exciting things we’ll explore throughout the year! I look forward to creating, listening, performing, and discovering music together.
Music Class Reminder
Students in Grades 1–8 are asked to bring a folder to Music Class. This folder will help keep our music, worksheets, and other class materials organized throughout the school year.
Please be sure your child has a folder labeled with their first and last name and grade. Thank you for helping us stay organized and ready to make music!
